Biography
My position in the Brooks lab is focused on the discovery of new therapeutic targets and biomarkers through the use of computation-led high throughput approaches directed at understanding the role of aberrant mRNA splicing in cancer. In addition to managing the Brooks wet lab, I am responsible for defining standard operating procedures, developing protocols, and conducting experiments to generate high throughput data for computational analysis by our dry lab group. These responsibilities include cDNA library preparation for nanopore and standard next generation sequencing, cloning and mammalian cell culture, CRISPR-Cas-9 gene-editing, and the development of various assays for cellular transformation. I also contribute to grant-writing and manuscript preparation, and guide and support a team of undergraduate and graduate researchers in the wet lab.
Research Areas
My interests are centered around understanding the regulation of gene expression during disease and how cancer cells communicate with other cells and the tumor microenvironment.
