Abstract

Just how safe is your food? How big are the risks and what is, or should be done to manage the risks? What is the role of science in informing policy? What about people's worries that do not fit with the scientific assessment of risk? The talk will address these questions using the BSE crisis in the UK and other examples as illustrations.
