ACM Symposium on Principles of Database Systems (PODS) Best Newcomer Award

Computer Science Assistant Professor Alkis Polyzotis and his student, Karl Schnaitter have been recognized with the Best Newcomer Award given by the ACM PODS 2008 Conference for their paper "Evaluating Rank Joins with Optimal Cost". PODS is the premiere conference on the theoretical aspects of database systems, and the award is given to the best submission whose authors have not published in previous PODS conferences.
