Rat genome assembly offered on UCSC genome browser

Monday, December 2, 2002

The UCSC genome research team has just released the first web browser for the rat genome, a key genome for biomedical research and comparative mammalian genomics. The sequence was assembled by a consortium headed by Baylor University researchers using a hybrid approach that combines the clone-by-clone and whole genome shotgun methods. The rat sequence data may be downloaded from the UCSC Genome Browser site.
