Abstract:

The intersection of open source and commercialization will shape a new category of business, new kind of economics, new way of building products and more. In his talk, Joseph Jacks will discuss transforming entrepreneurial free and open source software (FOSS) creators into leading commercial open source software (COSS) founders. He will look particularly at COSSA (COSS Accelerator) which is pioneering the first globally distributed "school/studio/incubator-hybrid" community platform. COSSA is supported by a network of COSS founders who have created more than 100 of the top COSS companies creating more than 50,000 jobs, raising $9 billion in venture capital, generating $20 billion in revenue, and launching hundreds of products.
