Title: Sage Weil Talks Open Source and Start-Ups

Abstract: The Center for Research in Open Source Software (CROSS) invites you to a remote presentation by UCSC alum Dr. Sage Weil, Ceph Principal Architect at Red Hat. Sage Weil's talk will focus on his experiences creating open source software, working with open source communities, as well as his insights on creating successful start-up companies.

Bio: Dr. Weil is the founder of the Ceph open-source software project, a distributed storafe system creasted while he was a phD student at UCSC. Sage Weil is also the found of WebRing, co-founder of Los Angeles-based hosting company DreamHost, and the founder and the CTO of Inktank, a startup dedicated to Ceph which was later aquired by Red Hat. Dr. Weil earned a Bachelor of Science in computer science from Harvey Mudd College in 2000 and completed his phD in 2007 at UCSC.
