Join us for an exciting and thought-provoking lecture by Dr. Cornelia ("Cori") Bargmann, the Head of Science at the Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI).

Dr. Bargmann is also an internationally recognized neurobiologist and geneticist at Rockefeller University, where she is the Torsten N. Wiesel Professor. She  received the 2012 Kavli Prize in Neuroscience and the 2013 Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences.

The Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative is dedicated, in part, to accelerating biomedical discovery by supporting open, collaborative, and networked models of research, and developing transformative new technologies.

Note: Dr. Bargmann will be on campus for the full day and would like to hear from trainees (graduate students and postdocs) about their science, and about their ideas to accelerate science. Graduate students and postdocs who are interested in meeting with Dr. Bargmann later in the day are required to register and submit a 250 word description of the subject they would like to discuss (e.g., their science or an issue related to science policy, equity, funding, training, etc.). Trainees will be representing UCSC, and therefore meeting materials should be well prepared in advance. Lunch is also available to a limited number of trainees. Registration is required. Questions may be emailed to
