Computer Engineering focuses on the design, analysis, and application of computers and on their applications as components of systems. The UCSC Department of Computer Engineering sustains and strengthens its teaching and research program to provide students with inspiration and quality education in the theory and practice of computer engineering. The department offers the bachelor of science (B.S.) in computer engineering, the bachelor of science in robotics engineering, the bachelor of arts (B.A.) in network and digital technology, the master of science (M.S.) and the doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.) in computer engineering degrees as well as an undergraduate minor. A combined B.S./M.S. program allows students to complete both the B.S. and M.S. in computer engineering degrees in five years.
Faculty and students in the Baskin School of Engineering Computer Engineering Department are researching and developing applications that will enable the internet to evolve in ways that we had never imagined.
Sri Kurniawan, Baskin School of Engineering Associate Professor of Computational Media and Computer Engineering, is working with her students to research and develop games and applications to help people with special needs.
Baskin School of Engineering Professor Ricardo Sanfelice and his Hybrid Systems Lab works to develop cyber-physical systems that incorporate networks, computers, and physics. He discusses specific applications to aerial vehicles and systems that operate in complex environments.
