Semantic Interior Mapology (SIM)


SIM (Semantic Interior Mapology) is a web tool that enables anyone to quickly and accurately trace the layout of a building's interior from a map of the building, which can be uploaded as an image file. SIM produces a geo-registered representation of the building layout in GeoJSON, a standard format for geographic data structure encoding.  A 3-D extruded visualization of the building is rendered over OpenStreetMap for interactive visualization.

SIM was developed by Computer Engineering Ph.D. candidate Viet Trinh in the Computer Vision Lab at the UCSC Baskin School of Engineering, with support from the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation. For more information, see Viet's article. Patent pending.
