Computing Servers: CVS is running on tim1

tim1.cse.ucsc.edu (Intel Xeon 3.16GHz, Quad Processors, 4GB): 1.1 Tera byte /home

tim2.cse.ucsc.edu (Intel Xeon 3.16GHz, Quad Processors, 4GB)

Storage Server:
tim3.cse.ucsc.edu : storage server (7 tera bytes. Intel Xeon 3.2GHz, single processor, 2GB memory, RAID)

The storage is mapped as /notbackedup/usr1  and /notbackedup/usr2 on most of the SOE linux machines. It is also supported by a samba server. You can access it from a windows machines as \\fs3\usr1 \\fs3\usr2 within SOE domain.

For each TIM member: please create your own directory using your user name and work under that directory. Please change the access right of your directory using chmod command. (“chmod og-wx yourDirName” is recommended)

The TIM storage server is based on RAID. It may fail. You are recommended to save the most important files in your SOE home directory (4G quota) since it is backed up on tape daily.

Lab PCs: most of the 16 lab PCs in E2-477. Most of these machines are dual boot. They are: lab1-tim.cse lab2-tim.cse... lab16-tim.cse.ucsc.edu
