My office is in the Baskin Engineering building at UC Santa Cruz. This link points to the standard directions to UCSC and to Baskin. As the map suggests, there's a "main loop" around the campus that starts at the main entrance to campus. As this loop takes you up into the hills, follow it as it turns left, go through a few stop-signs, and you'll see the Baskin Engineering building on the right, which is recognizable mostly by the fact that it's in the midst of lots of construction (lots of earth moving adjacent to Baskin, a newly-framed building across the street from it). On the map pointed to above, look at the inset where you see "Baskin Engineering" in red. The little red line that hooks right towards Baskin is supposed to be directing you to parking. That's misleading! Because of construction, you cannot hook right. Instead, stay straight on McLaughlin and drive past Baskin (and past all the construction) until you hit the "T" that you can see in the diagram. At that T, there will be a parking structure to your left. Take a left at the T, and then your immediate left into the parking structure. On the second and third floors of this structure are paid-parking stalls (labeled "paystations"). These are convenient, but they have a two-hour limit. If you'll be staying longer, you'll need a day-permit, which is easy to obtain from a central office on the lower part of campus. If you follow the directions to campus given above, you'll enter through the "south gate" (the main entrance). At the first right off of that gate, you'll see a sign that says "parking." Take that right, go to the central parking office, and obtain a temporary permit. With that permit, you can park in the above parking structure (and many other places on campus) all day. My office number is 831-459-3576 if you have any problems. |
