- Martin Fowler: when he speaks, everyone else listens ;-) I have many of his books
- Rod Johnson: known for his leading role in the Spring framework and the expert one-on-one books
- Allen I. Holub: a master on OO design, design patterns,
Java programming and other development technologies. His new book Holub on patterns is a nice book that I'd
recommend.
- Steve Sounders: book author for "High Performance Web Sites" and creator for YSlow, a Firebug addon that provide optimization hints according to 14 rules for front end performance optimization.
- Grady Booch: software methodologist, one of three inventors for UML, did a lot of great work for OO design
- Elliotte Rusty Harold: a writer and developer
