November 4, 2001: Walking!
On Tatum's 10 month birthday, October 11, she took nine steps without falling, and her walking has been getting better ever since. Of course, this means that she's now more capable than ever of getting into mischief...
Tatum loves to play with the dishwasher. We normally don't let her, but this time was a treat.
Tatum also has her favorite cupboard, and favorite drawer in the kitchen...
We went up to San Francisco one weekend in October, stopping off at a beach along the way. We met up with Jenni Little and her daughter Georgia at Fort Mason Park.

September 26, 2001: Vacation pictures
We took a vacation to visit some friends who live in the Shasta Valley, near Yreka, and some other friends who live in central Oregon, near Bend. Along the way we visited Crater Lake.
September 15, 2001: First tooth!
Tatum's first tooth finally came in, a really tiny, very sharp little bottom tooth. It's very cute unless you're unlucky, and she clamps down on your finger with it!
We attended a pool party thrown by friends of Jim's, Ira Pohl and Debra Dolsberry, and Tatum had her first visit to a pool. She kind of liked it, and kind of didn't like it. Splashing was OK, but wooshing around in the water was not, and she didn't like having water up to the middle of her chest either.
We recently threw a birthday party for Shirley, and got some baloons for it. Tatum loves baloons, and here are the pictures to prove it!
Julia's friend Carrie visited one day, so we snapped some pictures.
August 7, 2001: Starting to stand up
Recently Tatum has been crawling up a storm, and has begun to pull herself upright. She's really shaky, and falls down a lot, but she is determined to stand up. Could walking be far behind?
June 28, 2001: Georgia's visit
Julia's friend Jenni visited over the weekend, and brought along her daughter Georgia, who is just a month younger than Tatum.
June 27, 2001: Finally!
Well, after people asked me "When are you going to update the Web site" about 100 times, I've finally put up some new pictures. Sorry for the delay, but we have been busy! Julia has been to the East Coast twice since the last update, and Jim has been to Hong Kong, Toronto, and the East Coast. Plus we bought a house.
February 28, 2001: More pictures!!
Julia's father, Bob Gaudinski, came out for a visit in late February, just in time to attend Julia's public PhD defense at UC Irvine. Bob quickly fell under Tatum's spell, and it's fair to say she has another big fan. Actually, she has lots of new fans, since she was shown off at UC Irvine during Julia's defense as well!

We had a snowstorm up above 1000ft of elevation the day Jim was due to drive over the Santa Cruz mountains, and give a presentation at UC Berkeley, causing highway 17, the main north-south route to be closed. This is unusual for us...

Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa Whitehead, we now have a digital camera, and can easily take lots of pictures. The new camera makes it much easier to capture all of the expressions Tatum makes. Here are the best pictures we've taken in the last 3 days...
We went for a walk on West Cliff Drive, by the ocean, our first outing with Tatum in a stroller. There was a very heavy surf that day, and there were lots of surfers out taking advantage of it.
