Since Julia is pregnant, and expecting in January, we stayed home for Christmas this year.
Pop-pop Comes to Visit
Jim's father came to visit right before Christmas, at the end of a business trip to Sacramento. Tatum really enjoyed playing with her Pop-pop!
Tatum's Birthday
Tatum had her third birthday in December, and we held a birthday party for her at the house.

August 2003: Family Vacation
Tatum, Julia and Jim went on a vacation to the East Coast, visiting Bob, Cathi, Martin, and Emily in Marlborough, CT first. After 3 days, we drove down to Ocean City, NJ and spent six days on the beach. Linda, Jim Sr. (Jim Jr.'s Mom and Dad), Cindy (Jim Jr's sister), and Louise (Jim and Cindy's Nana) came to Ocean City to meet us the following day, and then Susan (Jim Sr's sister) and Emmet (Jim Sr's father) came to visit the day after, driving up from Florida to make it! The Whitehead's had a full family reunion on this trip!
We recently switched to using Adobe's Photoshop Album program, which makes creating Web slide shows easier, and so from now on links from this page will carry you through to a slide show.
April/May 2003: Fun with Tatum
Christmas, 2002: Visit to Winchester, MA and Marlborough, CT
For Christmas, we took a red-eye flight back east and spent a few days with Tatum's Nana, Pop-pop, Aunt Cindy and Nana Lou in Winchester, and then visited her Babci, Dziade, Checi Emily, and Voyek Martin in Marlborough, CT.

It snowed on Christmas day, giving Tatum a white Christmas. The next day we took Tatum outside to play in the snow!

December 11, 2002: Tatum's Birthday Party
In mid-December we had a birthday party for Tatum, an exciting experience since the power had been out for almost 24 hours before the start of the party. We cracked out the Coleman lantern and bunches of candles, made a big fire, and had the party anyway. It was fun, especially with it being candlelit. Several other parents who were also without power liked having someplace to go that was outside the house! Unfortunately, we didn't end up with too many pictures from the party.
November 27, 2002: Beach, Jerry, Nana & Pop-Pop's Visit
In mid-November we went down to the beach at Davenport Landing one sunny day. Jerry was down visiting, and he and Shirley came along too. Much to our surprise, a persian music band called Sanama was on the beach that day having a music video shoot. We thought they must be really annoyed by the remote control helicopter that was also on the beach that day, until we realized there was a camera on board...
Nana and Pop-pop (Jim's parents) came out to visit us for Thanksgiving, and we went wine tasting at the Ridge winery.
November 4, 2002: Tatum's Kitchen Set
While exploring a thrift store, Tatum became engrossed in a child's kitchen set they had, and even after playing with it for a long time, still didn't want to leave the store. Well, it didn't take too long before the kitchen set was loaded in the back of the minivan...
October 9, 2002: Santa Cruz County Fair
In early September we went to the Santa Cruz County Fair, and let Tatum go on lots of rides. Boy, was that a hit! She loved going on the airplane ride, driving a car, and being a train engineer, and was really disappointed when we finally had to leave.
July 6, 2002: Tatum's Pink Dress
We went to Sabrina Miller's birthday party today, and Tatum wore an heirloom dress, which we think she looks awfully cute in!
July 5, 2002: Bonny Doon Beach
We decided to go beach exploring, and went to Bonny Doon Beach. Despite being hot at our house, at the shore it was cool and very windy! We had to bundle Tatum up for the walk down to the beach. (Incidentally, "beach" is now one of her favorite words, "beach, beach, beach!"). We found a spot that was shielded from the wind, and played for awhile...
July 4, 2002: Georgia Visits
Tatum's best friend Georgia (who just happens to be the daughter of Julia's best friend Jenni) came for a visit on July 4. Well, it wasn't very long before Georgia made herself at home...
