This is a temporary site for the pair programming video produced by Linda Werner and Jill Denner.

The following instructions have not been heavily tested but seem to work. The video files are provided in two formats, as a Macintosh CDR, and as the raw video from a finished DVD.

For Macintosh users

  1. Download PairProgramming.cdr. WARNING: This is a BIG file (616MBytes).
  2. Start up "Disk Utility".
  3. Select File/Open and navigate to the downloaded cdr file.
  4. Insert a blank CD or if your machine supports it a DVD.
  5. Click Burn.
This CD will be playable with DVD playing software on any computer. If you burned a DVD it should be playable on a normal DVD player.

For Windows users

  1. Create a directory (e.g. video).
  2. Download PPvideo.tar. Using WinZip or similar utility, extract the two folders (VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS) from the tar file into the folder created in step one. WARNING: This is a BIG file (616MBytes).
  3. Burn the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS directories onto a CD.
This CD will be playable with DVD playing software on other Windows machines, and depending on your CD burning software may be playable on Macintosh computers.

Playback notes

The CDs created above may not be automatically detected as containing a DVD formatted movie. You may need to manually launch the DVD playing software and possibly direct the software to the CD.

You can also view the movie (on either platform) by downloading the file and directing your DVD playing software to the location on your hard drive.

On a Macintosh, first open the cdr file (double click it) which will mount the contents as a separate virtual disk drive. Direct the DVD player to that newly mounted virtual drive.

On a Windows machine, direct your DVD player to the VIDEO_TS folder.
