In comparison to Anders Krogh's parser, we did not compare favorably.
Some of the problems with our parser include:
- Adjacent
- The parser cannot find adjacent or overlapping genes.
- Length
- The parser only finds regions which are integer lengths of codons
- False +
- The parser finds too many false positives.
- Large
- Very large contigs cannot be parsed.
- Learning
- The parser was never successful in learning optimal weights for
multiple sensors; instead we found weights that worked well by hand.
- Eucaryotes
- The parser cannot be used to parse DNA into more than two types
of regions.
