The central challenges faced in organizations require business and technology understanding integrated with information (and even more importantly, knowledge) system design and integration to solve complex interdisciplinary problems for enterprise management. These are difficult problems because the modern enterprise exists in networks with customers and suppliers.
Data and Business Analytics for Knowledge Service Systems
Designing and managing complex enterprise systems in technology contexts requires a range of skills that includes knowledge of the relevant technologies and an understanding of the operational, financial and marketing dimensions of the business enterprise. Some of the research focus areas are listed below:
Technology and New Product Development, including Distribution & Delivery and Market Response Evaluation
Integrating the development of new technology including supply chain management, optimization and design, and the using new methodologies such as social network dynamics in market estimation.
Resource Management
The allocation of scarce resources using methods such as pricing, scheduling, and flow control, in service and product networks, including the human elements of teaming and learning.
Information Retrieval and Knowledge Management
Finding, organizing, analyzing, and communicating information on the internet, intranet and within an organization using retrieval, data mining, machine learning, and natural language processing techniques.
Financial Engineering and Risk Management
Applying mathematical, statistical and computational techniques to solve financial issues in technology and information systems development, as well as problems in web based economics, and enterprise operations and strategy.
