Hello Savina,
Are you looking for the FASTA files of chromosome sequences for
dm2? If so, these are available as a single zipped file on our downloads
server at:
http://hgdownload.cse.ucsc.edu/goldenPath/dm2/bigZips/
Otherwise, please let me know exactly what you need. The chromosome
directory can also be added if you would rather get the sequence with one
file per chromosome.
We have a Genome Browser for dm3 in development at the moment. It is from
the Apr. 2006 Drosophila melanogaster draft assembly (BDGP Release 5) was
provided by the Berkeley Drosophila Genome Project (BDGP). You can take a
look at this assembly on our test server:
http://genome-test.cse.ucsc.edu
Please note that data on our test server may not have been checked by our
QA team so it could be wrong and therefore it could change at a later
date. The Genome Browser for this assembly should undergo QA and be
released sometime in the future.
I got some information from the engineer who built the Browsers for the
dm2 and dm3 assemblies. As far as the 12-fly update is concerned, the
"Comparative Analysis Freeze 1 (CAF1)" assembly versions provided by Mike
Eisen's group (http://rana.lbl.gov/drosophila/), were used for both dm2
and dm3. Release dates can be seen on the details page for Conservation in
dm2 and dm3. On the flybase.org (same as flybase.net) web site, the
engineer was not able to find any information about the release dates of the
12-fly assemblies they use. We can only say which versions we used.
I hope that this helps you. Please let us know if you have further
questions.
