[Genome] Chromosome range

Hello Ian,

Are you saying that you are putting a chromosome range into the
position/search box and getting an error? If so, you can check the
lengths of the chromosomes in each assembly to be sure you are not
entering a number that is longer than the chromosome. That information
is available on the gateway page
(http://genome.ucsc.edu/cgi-bin/hgGateway) if you click on the blue
"sequences" link.

It is also possible that there is some issue with your cart settings.
When you use the Genome Browser, your settings (including the latest
chromosome position you have visited) are saved in a "cart" so that you
do not have to navigate to the same place every time you visit the site.
Sometimes the cart settings get into a state that results in
unexpected Genome Browser behavior. This can be remedied by clicking on
the link on the gateway page that says:

"Click here to reset the browser user interface settings to their defaults"

or you can just follow this link:
http://genome.ucsc.edu/cgi-bin/cartReset

Please let us know if this does not fix the problem.

Also, to answer your question, there is not a difference between
"chromosome range" and "chromosome position" in the Genome Browser. We
use the terms interchangeably.
