[Genome] Question about your web server software configuration

I was wondering how your webserver deals with robots and other site - 
crawling software.  We occasionally have problems with vasious seach 
engines or over zealous users who write poorly crafted automated 
searches.  The result being a degradation in performance for all of our 
users.  Currently we are researching a better method than we currently 
have of dealing with these issues.  Any input you have would be appreciated.
