Engineer Dominik Rabus publishes book on optical devices
Wednesday, April 25, 2007
Dominik Rabus' new book describes the design, fabrication, and application of integrated ring resonators.
Ring resonator filters do not require facets or gratings for optical feedback and are thus particularly suited for monolithic integration with other integrated optical components such as lasers, photodiodes, and optical waveguides. Ring resonators have applications in optical telecommunication networks as filters, modulators, lasers, and wavelength converters. Their use as sensors has also been demonstrated recently. The book describes the current state-of-the-art of these devices with respect to design, fabrication, and application.
