Homework Policy

·         Submit your CTTS milestone homework (printout) by the end of class on the day due. 

·         Late submissions will not be accepted.

Re-Grading Policy

·         After grades are available, you have 1 week to request re-grading.  After 1 week, course staff may not be available for re-grading.  Re-grading may result in higher or lower grade.

Class Attendance

·         Critical to the learning process

·         You will receive a failing grade if you miss more than 2 lectures.

·         If you can not attend a lecture for whatever reason:

o        Please email the instructor before the class

o        Read the course material for the lecture, write an abstract (1 page minimum), and email the abstract to the instructor before the next class starts. Otherwise, 2 points will be deducted.

·         Bring your textbook to each lecture.

·         Print out the ESSS case study for in-class discussion.

Collaboration

·         Individual work expected on case study homework

o        Give your friends credit: list the name of the person you discussed the problem with in your homework and describe how he/she helps you (discussion is not encouraged)

·         Team work expected on the project

o        Contribute to the team

o        Peer review will be used for grading

Course Project

·         System to be studied can be selected by the project team.

·         Default project system will be “Defect Tracking System”.  Details provided at future lecture.

·         Previous classes have used VoiceXML.  See above book for ideas.

·         Project team should be 2-4 students.

·         Single-person projects are OK with the instructor’s permission.

·         Expected project deliverables provided later in course.

Accessing Course Documents

All course documents are currently stored on a public WebDav server hosted  by Xythos.  See the Workspace structure below.  To access documents, follow these instructions:

 

1.       Click the following link:.

2.       Select a folder and double click. Repeat until you find the appropriate document.

3.       Double click the document.

4.       In the dialog box, select Save to download to your computer.

5.       Alternately, to access files in an Explorer window, on the far right of the top tool bar, select Launch Web Folder.

Accessing Microsoft Visio Professional 2007

·         Send email to help@ucsc.edu  Request access to the SOE MSDN-AA web site for downloading Visio Professional 2007 for ISM58.

·         IT will respond via email with a user name & password for the site.

·         Go to the site and download Visio Professional 2007.  About 260MB. You should receive an ISO file.  You will also get a key…which you need to save for the installation.

·         Either burn the ISO file to a CD or use the “Daemon Tools” software in the “6-Miscellaneous” folder above to mount the ISO file as a CD drive.

·         Install Visio using the key.
