Homework 4
due in class, Tuesday February 3
You must SHOW ALL WORK for full credit (except for things computed
entirely in R, of course). Please staple your assignment if it is
more than one page.
Required problems:
1) 6.12 parts (a)-(d) (p. 223)
2) 6.18, but do part (a) with a histogram and boxplot, and part (b)
with a normal probability plot (pp. 229-230). Note that the default
settings may not be able to read in the datafile, so you will need to
find a way to read the data into R.
3) 7.7 part (e) only (pp. 253-4)
4) 8.9 parts (a)-(c) (p. 269)
5) 8.15 (pp. 274-5)
6) 8.28 (pp. 278-9)
Optional problems:
7) 6.11 (p. 223)
8) 8.19 (p. 275)
9) 8.27 (p. 278)
If you have the 9th edition, the corresponding problems are:
1) 6.12 (p. 212), 2) not in 9th ed, 3) not in 9th ed, 4) 8.9 (258),
5) 8.15 (264), 6) not in 9th ed, 7) 6.11 (211), 8) not in 9th ed, 9) 8.25 (267)
