Grading Policy
There are 5 labs and each lab carries 20 marks totalling 100. The split up for each lab is Lab Reports 4, Lab notes 12, Pre-lab Questions 4.
Due Dates
You will have to submit lab reports/notes before you start on the next lab.If you happen to move on to the next lab half way through a lab session, you will handover the lab before the hard deadlines list below.
Lab1 - Friday Jan 20, 2006 (4.40 PM)
Lab2 – Wednesday Feb 1, 2006
Lab3 – Wednesday Feb
15, 2006. ( Lab3 due date is extended to 15th Feb 2006. Part 5 of
Lab3 is made optional.)
Lab4 – Due date is extended to Mon 27th Feb.
Lab Notes
The lab notes is to be used during the lab. The notes will contain the
following
a)Date of start of experiment
b)Lab Number i.e. Lab0, Lab1....
c)Aim of the experiment
d)Observations. Make a tabular column whenever readings are required. The
tabular column will mention what readings are being taken with their
appropriate units. Whenever required draw a rough graph/plot of the readings.
e)Answers to questions/Conclusions.
Each lab might have multiple experiments. So you will have to do this for each experiment. It is a good idea to keep making notes as you do the experiment. All readings ( even if incorrect because of faulty equipment ) will need to go into your notes.
Lab Report
The lab report is a fair and more detailed version of the lab notes. The lab report is required to be self explanatory. Apart from those present in the lab notes, you will have to include components/equipment used in the experiment, circuit diagrams. If you are answering a question, the report also needs to have the question for which you are giving your answer for.
Lab notes and lab reports for each lab will be due before just before next lab starts. But it is a good idea to get your lab notes corrected at the end of each lab itself.
Pre-Lab Questions
Pre-lab Questions are due before the end of first day of each lab. Some labs might take multiple days. There is no late submission allowed for pre-lab questions.
