The goal of the computer game prototype phase is to demonstrate that your team has spent between 5-10 hours working on your game. Depending on the capabilities of your team, the actual tangible results of this effort will vary. As a result, grading for this phase will be fairly subjective, and lenient. The only surefire way to lose points in this phase is to not submit anything.
The following elements seem reasonable to expect in games submitted during this phase. Note that these elements assume the game is being created using Game Maker. Games created using other technologies will need to provide equivalent items.
We do not expect, and in fact recommend against having any sound in your game at this time. Large sound files are strongly correlated with corrupted Game Maker files, and hence a wise strategy is to include sound into your game at the very end of development.
We do not expect a complete, or fully playable game at this point. However, if a team submits a mostly complete game, we will provide some feedback on its playability and game design.
