Designing a Drawing Game - CMPS 80K - Foundations of Interactive Game Design

In this assignment your team (this is a team-based assignment, not an individual assignment) will create a new, original drawing-based game. A drawing based game is one where the gameplay takes place in a drawing space, and where the actions in the game involve drawing of some form. One example of a drawing game is exquisite corpse in which players take turns drawing on a folded sheet of paper, with other player contributions hidden.

The drawing surface for your game is required to be the web site Doodler, created by UCSC Digital Arts New Media (DANM) student Tyler Freeman. This web site provides tools for drawing lines (with variable color and thickness), adding text, adding pictures, or creating windows onto other doodles. However, you are free to make use of these drawing capabilities in any way you want in your game.

So long as you make use of the Doodler drawing capabilities in some way, there is a broad range of games that you can make. Games could be collaborative, or have competing teams, or have competing individuals. The entire game can take place in Doodler, or only part of the game can take place in Doodler. The game can use no images, some images, or a lot of images. The game could just be for fun, or could make a serious point. Be creative.

For this assignment, you need to describe the rules of your game, and your experience playing the game a few times. A screenshot of a gameplay screen is a major plus.

When submitting your game, make sure you include the items described in the template, and be aware of the grading criteria.
