\title{CMP80b Fall 06 PROJECT CHECKPOINT 2} \author{Robert Levinson} The following guidelines should be followed when preparing your project checkpoint 2. \item The goal of the checkpoint is to have a firm design on paper of the model you intend to build before working with STELLA. \item Name the stocks in your model. For each stock, give units (lbs, dollars, happiness units, etc). Decide on a reasonable minimum and maximum value for each stock. \item Name the flows (rates) in your model. For each flow give units (lbs, dollars, etc). Decide on a reasonable minimum and maximum value for each flow. \item Combine the stocks and flows into a valid causal loop diagram. Ideally you will have about 3 loops. Remember to label your arcs as + or -. Then label the loops as Reinforcing or Balancing. To be interesting you will need both types of loops. \item Mark any delays in your diagram. \item Annotate each loop with a 1 or 2 sentence story/phrase/title about the story they tell. \item For each stock and flow, write an equation (or show a graph) of how its inputs are combined to product its output. \item Indicate any places in your model in which may later insert randomness!! \item Follow the number one law of system modelling: HAVE FUN! \item You should COMPLETE your outline of your paper into topic, subtopics and subsubtopics. \item Pick 1 or more subtopics and write a 5 page draft of those sections as they might exist in the final paper. \item Give at least one diagram that will appear in the final paper. \item List at least 4 major "TODO" items for the final paper, such as "read book X", "checkout this URL", "draw this diagram", etc. \item Follow the number one law of paper writing: HAVE FUN!
