A Frequently Asked Question:
How can I connect to the campus network from home and do my lab
assignment from there?
Answer:
You must have the
appropriate network software installed on your computer in order to log
on to your UCSC computer account. Communications and Technology
Services (CATS) offers a free Internet Starter Kit
which includes a number of tools for this and other purposes.
Please note if there is anything
you don't know
how to do, then attendance at a scheduled lab session is required for
you. Bear in mind however that the the TAs and Tutors
for this course can help you with our assignments, but they might not
be able to answer all questions pertaining to the CATS system, such as
how to logon from off campus. They can however point you to the
appropriate resources. Try the following for more
information: IC student resources,
CATS
frequently asked questions, Information
Resource Center (IRC), or call the IRC help desk 831-
459-4357 (831-459-HELP).
