News

Final exam results, final grades, and narratives are now posted.

Enjoy your summer vacation!

I have compiled a list of personal web pages, resumes, and term papers for students in the class. All students are required to put their resumes and term papers on their web pages, with the specified names.

Extra credit pages

Viewing the class record now has your midterm results for each question. There is also a new composite field in your class record. This is in response to requests for an overall indicator of your grade in the class, as well as something to compare to other students. See the Evaluation and grades page for more information.

The final exam will be closed book (no cram sheet). 75% of the questions will be from previous exams or homework.

A useful new web page for UCSC course information is at students.ucsc.edu

Several students are doing some extra credit work to make up for a bombed exam or missed labs. Read the extra credit page and contact me for more details.

A student has discovered that one question on test form C, second midterm exam, was graded incorrectly. I will adjust the scores.

By popular request, the requirement for doing Internet search homework questions has been reduced. See the homework page for details.

Announcements

Students with disabilities or other special needs should contact me to make whatever alternative arrangements are necessary.

The class policy on cheating is that it is not tolerated. Students caught cheating will be subject to university policies, and the result may be flunking the class.

Teaching assistants and tutors do not have the authority to modify class policies or to grant exceptions.

All students are responsible for monitoring the class web page for class policies, assignments, changes, records, etc.

    Privacy policy

This site does not use cookies. It tracks students in the class using name, ID, email address, and IP address. Responses and times are logged. Class records include information from the registrar, grades for work done in the class, and information from online activities. Some information is made available to TAs in the class, but only to the extent necessary to do their jobs. Information is used to prepare grades and narrative evaluations for the university.

Students have an opportunity to review the information online, and to request corrections by email. Access to information is by student ID. In most cases, the student ID is the same as the Social Security number.

Student web pages and the Lab 20 class database are available to the public. Students are not required to post information that is personal and confidential.

Page for tutors and graders only. (This page is for reporting grades, and requires a password.)

    Help

For the class pages for previous courses, see my home page.

If you have trouble checking into a lab, it may be that you are not on the class list, or you are enrolled in a different section. You can use the Register page to add yourself to the class list. Changing sections must be done by email if you are already enrolled in a section. If you are waiting for a change to be effective, you can use one of your "visits".

Lab time is measured based on actual time the student is checked in at a "usual lab" or "visit". Time is not calculated for homework check ins.
