Tutor and Grader Information
See the feedback form below!
This page has news for tutors and graders, and
a form for submitting section grades.
It requires a password.
Grades are entered one lab and section at a time.
They should only be entered by the grader responsible for that section.
Try not to leave grades blank.
If the student is in your section, and failed to attend or turn
anything in, then give him a 0.
This form cannot change a grade once it has been entered.
So try to get it right the first time!
If you make a mistake, email the TA and he will fix it.
It is not possible to enter grades for students not in
the class database.
Send email to the TA to add students, and remember to enter their
grades later.
Tutor Feedback Form
You are expected to send feedback to Roger at least once per week. This form logs each time you send feedback to him, and your final evaluation will reflect whether you have stayed in contact or not. Even if you correspond with him regularly through e-mail, you should correspond at least once per week through this form to avoid being penalized at the end of the quarter. Simply select your name below and fill out your message in the large text box and your message will be sent to Roger.
Cmps002 - guidelines for tutors
Who are we?
You and I are all members of the
cmps002 staff. We all work hard to ensure that students have a
rewarding learning experience. We work together, not against each
other.
Therefore:
- do the best you can to help students
learn;
- it is OK to let the student know that
you don't know something, but you must show genuine interest in
help even then.
- do not criticize work of other staff
members in front of our students. If you see something wrong,
either tell the person or bring to my attention.
- we all make mistakes. be
understanding
What are your obligations?
- Be there on time.
- Let the students know who you
are.
- Try to get to know all the students in
your sections.
- Check that the grades of your sections
are correctly assigned.
- Report the grades for your sections
in a timely manner.
Do not hold up grade reporting because a few students need
make up work. You may report the missing grades later.
- Read the manual before each lab. Some
material may be different than when you learned. If you see
anything you are not familiar, try to use the lab before your
students. Resort to me or a TA if you have any problem.
- Send me email once a week to let me
know how things are going. If everything is fine, tell me.
Grade Reporting
These are the procedures:
- Each section has one and only one tutor
in charge.
- Even though there may be two tutors
present, one is responsible for taking the attendance and grading
students for that section.
- Students are initially assigned to the
tutor that reported the attendance grade for lab #2. If a student
wants to be transfered later, the new tutor may request our TA to
reassign the student.
- If a grade is missing for a student, we
will ask the tutor in charge to find out what the problem
is.
- The class records are online, and you
submit your grades online for your section.
- We will send you, every week, a list of
grades for the students you are responsible for. Make sure those
grades are correct. You may have the students check this list. We
will no longer fix grades at the end of the quarter. Report any
corrections to our TA. We understand you might have reported the
grade correctly, but, please, just send the corrections if
any.
- Grades can be corrected by emailing
the TA.
- Students are supposed to make sure
they are enrolled in the correct section. If the online list has
errors, please help us correct them. You can only enter grades
for students enrolled in your section.
