Technical writing is an essential skill for a successful career in computer science or engineering. This course teaches writing from an engineering
perspective. We will study how to avoid common writing pitfalls -- from punctuation through document structure. Exercises include writing a resume, in-program documentation, a recommendation letter, and a formal
technical report. We will also learn how to give effective presentations.
Summer, 2003 is the second offering of CMPE185 as a distance learning class. The class meets twice, once at the beginning and once at
the end. Instead of lectures, students use WebCT to submit quizzes and peer-edited assignments.
The course runs from June 23, 2003 - August 15, 2003. There are two class meetings: Monday, June 23, 2-5pm Baskin 152 Friday, August 15, 1-5pm, Social Sciences rooms 137 and 141 (20 students each room)
