- Review session for Quiz 5 will be held on Thursday Mar 11, 2004 at BE 354I from 3-4 p.m.
- There will be two review sessions for the final. The first session will be held on Friday Mar 12, 2004 at Jack's Lounge/White boards in JBE first floor and will start at 4:45 p.m.
The second review session will be held at Jack's Lounge on Wednesday Mar 17, 2004 and will start at 12 noon.

1) The deadline for subscribing to the class newsgroup is Friday, 1/30.

Please note that you should send atleast one mail to the newsgroup by this
date but you will be evaluated for project1 at the end of the quarter for
all your postings throughout the quarter. You can send a test mail to check
if you subscribed properly. If you subscribed properly, you should be able
to see your mail a few minutes after you sent it, you need not ask anyone
to reply to the test mail.

| Class Description |
This class covers the fundamentals of data communication
networks, including basic concepts associated with physical data transmission,
medium access, routing, internetworking, end-to-end communication, and
applications such as e-mail, file transfer, and the Web.
The course's main goal is to provide a broad understanding of data
communication networks, including the TCP/IP protocol architecture, local-
and wide-area networks, internetworks (in particular the Internet). |
| Prerequisites |
There are no prerequisites to this course
but sophomore standing is recommended. All students MUST have access to
a computer and obtain an account at CATS. Students who do not yet have
a CATS account should check the CATS
web page.
Students who have already taken CMPE 150 should not be taking this
class.

There is no required textbook for this class. Lecture notes,
which will be posted on the class web page before each lecture, will contain
all the material covered in class. However, a list of suggested texts is
