Personal Web page (15%)
Using HTML create a personal web page representing yourself
personally, as a student, as a potential employee, or otherwise as you
see fit. The Web page design style will be totally up to you.
The Web page must include: a general description of your education
record, professional experience (if any), a personal photograph and
links within the personal page to other relevant web pages (i.e.,
UCSC, your college page, etc). Remember, these web pages will be
visible to the world at large (do not include any intimate or highly
personal information on your web page, i.e., home address or telephone
number, etc.)
You must also include a link to a page containing references (books,
technical papers, other Web pages) relevant to your academic
interests. This reference page will be created by you using the
knowledge/tools you learn in Christy Hightower's presentation on using
the library system. However, this does not mean that you need to wait
till after her presentation to start working on the project. We will
have an in-class HTML tutorial.
A note from Katia about the reference page:
If you look in the course syllabus, we have a presentation by Christy Hightower
from the SE Library scheduled on 05.22. Christy will talk about the UCSC
library system and how to use it. Using the knowledge acquired from her
presentation, students will create the "reference page" to be linked to their
personal Web page.
Notes:
- You can use any editor you want
- Your page should be in standard HTML, use the Validator to check it. Most
editors will produce valid HTML
- The page doesn't need to be on the CATS server
- Please include a "last modified on xxx" message at the bottom of your page
and do not modify the page after the due date until you receive a
grade from the TAs
- You'll need to send the link to your webpage to both TAs when you
are done.
- The web page won't be graded until after the due date (last day of
class)
