- Extra credit assignment: PowerPoint
slideshow Due Friday 3/11 (20 points)
- For this assignment, you will create a PowerPoint
slideshow similar to the ones that I use to present
material in class. You are required to create four slides,
described below.
15 out of 20 points will be given for
satisfying the requirements given below. The remaining 5
points are reserved for creative use of PowerPoint, such
as using different fonts and text styles, backgrounds,
pictures, animations and transitions.
- Make an introductory slide including:
- the course name and number
- your full name and
UCSC login name
- the date.
- Make a slide with a picture.
- Include some text describing the picture on the same slide.
- Make a slide with a chart or graph.
- There is an AutoLayout that includes a chart,
which you can select from the dialog that appears
when you select the Insert Menu: New Slide...
command.
- The x-axis of the chart should be labeled with the six assignments in this course (including this one).
- The y-axis is your rating of each assignment (how valuable, important, or informative it was)
- Include some text interpreting the graph on the same slide.
- Make a slide with a hierarchical list.
- Information you could present on this slide:
- PowerPoint features used in your presentation.
- Future plans for using or educating yourself about computers.
- Whatever you want, really, just make sure it meets the requirements below.
- Include at least three headings and subheadings underneath two of them.
- Use the tab key at the start of a new line to make it a subheading.
- Experiment with animation on this slide for extra style points.
Include one or two extra slides if you need them to demonstrate your
understanding of additional PowerPoint features that don't fit into the slides
above. Describe what you are doing on the slides.
Getting started - Open PowerPoint and create a
blank presentation. Insert a title slide (Insert Menu: New
Slide...) and three other slides that contain the elements
described above (graph, pictures and text). Edit the
master slide (View menu: Master...->Slide Master) to
change the fonts, color and background used for all
slides. Look in the Insert menu for different types of
objects you can insert into your presentation; look in the
Format menu for font and color settings; finally, look in
the Slide Show menu for access to animation and transition
features.
Turning it in - Save your PowerPoint file (use a
short, descriptive name with no spaces). Upload it to your
web space and link in to your course web page
(cmpe003_assignment3.html) with a link at the top of the
page that says "Extra credit project". Print out
your slides (the slide sorter view is fine) and turn them
in to me on the last day of class.
