Steps for Declaring a Major for Spring 2008:
Students must complete all steps to officially be a declared major
1. Print out the DECLARATION OF MAJOR CHECKLIST for your major.

2. Print out your unofficial AIS transcript from https://my.ucsc.edu/
3. Print out a UCSC STUDY PLAN – DECLARATION OF MAJOR/MINOR form.

4. Enter your contact information and complete the UNIVERSITY, GENERAL EDUCATION, and COLLEGE REQUIREMENTS on the DECLARATION form.
5. Submit the UCSC STUDY PLAN – DECLARATION OF MAJOR/MINOR form to your college for their approval and signature of first section.
6. Create a proposed course plan for your major using the curriculum chart and tip sheet for your major for the curriculum year that you are following.
7. Write your proposed course plan on the back of your major curriculum chart. Please consult the pre-requisites sheet and next year's SoE class schedule.
8. Peer Mentors are available to assist with creating a plan during drop-in advising hours. You may also contact a Peer Mentor by sending email to .
9. THEN drop off your DECLARATION OF MAJOR CHECKLIST at the SoE Undergraduate Advising Office (Rm. 225 Baskin Engineering) during their open hours (Mon - Fri. 9-11AM & 1:30 - 3:30 PM), to obtain a faculty advisor and SOE GPA verification.
10. Pick up your DECLARATION OF MAJOR CHECKLIST - generally 24 HOURS after dropping off.
11. Take the completed DECLARATION OF MAJOR CHECKLIST, transcripts, and plan to the assigned faculty advisor. Meet with your assigned advisor to sign your DECLARATION OF MAJOR CHECKLIST, and review and sign your proposed study plan BEFORE you transfer this information to the UCSC STUDY PLAN – DECLARATION OF MAJOR/MINOR form.
12. Attend a Declaration of Major Drop-In Session. Bring your completed DECLARATION OF MAJOR CHECKLIST and your signed UCSC STUDY PLAN – DECLARATION OF MAJOR/MINOR form. SOE Advising staff will conduct final review and notification of approval to major. Declaration of Major Drop-In Sessions will be held on a first come, first served basis on the following dates and times only:
