Welcome prospective students! This webpage is designed to help you learn more about specific scholarship awards available to new engineering students at the Baskin School of Engineering, UC Santa Cruz.
ACCESS Scholarship for Computer Engineering, Computer Science and Electrical Engineering Students ($20,000)
The ACCESS Scholarship program provides two-year scholarships of up to $10,000 for each year to high-achieving, financially disadvantaged students pursuing degrees in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Electrical Engineering at the Baskin School of Engineering (BSOE), UC Santa Cruz. ACCESS Scholars receive:
- Up to $20,000 in scholarship support ($10,000 each year for two years)
- Affiliation with an engineering residential community at Crown College, UCSC
- Participation in a community of ACCESS scholars with a common first-year curriculum
- Faculty and Peer Mentorship
- Engineering residential summer bridge experience
- Support and advisement for career development and graduate school preparation.
The ACCESS Scholarship program is open only to students entering UCSC at the freshman level. To be considered for the ACCESS Scholarship program, students should indicate a BSOE major in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or the undeclared advising cluster "Engineering and Computing" on the UC application. Students must also complete all required financial aid information so that financial need can be determined. Sony Scholarships for Computer Game Design Students ($10,000)
New for fall 2009, the Baskin School will offer need-based scholarship awards to incoming first-year students in the Computer Science: Computer Game Design major. The goal of the scholarship program is to recruit and retain top-quality, financially disadvantaged students, especially women, into the Computer Game Design program as entering frosh. Six scholarships of up to $10,000 will be awarded to eligible students for fall 2009. Students who wish to be considered for the Sony Scholarship for Computer Game Design should indicate their interest in the major as their first choice for the Santa Cruz campus on the UC application. Students must also complete all federal and university financial aid forms in order to be considered.
Amy Beth Snader Memorial Scholarship ($16,000)
The Amy Beth Snader Memorial Scholarship was established in 1992 in honor of its namesake, an alumna of UCSC in Computer and Information Sciences, with the purpose to help women undergraduates in Computer Science. The goal of the scholarship is to attract more women to UCSC to pursue engineering degrees, though male and female applicants are considered for this award. Amy Beth Snader scholarships are renewable awards that provide up to $16,000 of financial support over four years (up to $4,000 each year for four years) for students who continue to meet eligibility requirements. Students who wish to be considered for the Snader Scholarship should indicate a BSOE major or the undeclared advising cluster “Engineering and Computing.” Students must also complete all required federal and state financial aid forms in order to be considered.
General Scholarship Information
If you think you will need financial assistance to attend the Baskin School of Engineering and UC Santa Cruz, you are responsible for applying for financial aid, completing the necessary forms and meeting deadlines. By filling out UC’s application for undergraduate admission, you automatically apply for University-administered scholarships. Some UC scholarships require a supplemental application.
