Bar Code.

As you can see (or maybe not if you are using a text browser), the motif used in this site is bar codes. The bar codes shown here use the Code 128 symbology which is one of the few that allows non-numeric characters. The bar codes were created at Unibar's very neat free bar code page. For information about how UPC bar codes work, checkout How UPC Bar Codes Work at HowStuffWorks. The year 1999, was the 25th anniversary of the bar code. The Smithsonian had an article about it in the February 1999 issue.

About me.

My name is Krishna Roskin. I am a computer science graduate student at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Currently, I am working at the Center for Biomolecular Science & Engineering under Professor David Haussler. My research interests are in the area of comparative genomics.

I graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz with a degree in mathematics and computer science.

News.

Jan. 23, 2005: The HHMI bulliten has a little one page write up of me.
Apr. 29, 2004: Despite the record breaking heat, I've managed to update the list of publications.
Jan. 21, 2004: There is profile of me in the online version of UC Santa Cruz Currents. It's written by Tim Stephens.
Nov. 1, 2003: I have a lot to do. So instead of doing any of it, I made a favicon. As you could have guessed, it's a little bar code. It may not display correctly (some times the SOE favicon overrides it) but it will show up if you bookmark this page.
Oct. 23, 2003: The new web site has been completed. I've moved to a new table-free layout that is heavily dependent on CSS. I took most of the updated code from the good people at glish.com which is a great resource for CSS layout techniques. Another great resource is A List Apart. I also took the time to validate this site as XHTML 1.1 and CSS. This is my plug for supporting modern web standards.
